Wild Wednesday at NorthStar

Wednesday at NorthStar Golf Club was one of the most dramatic days in quite awhile on the Golfweek Junior Tour. Four different players held the lead at one point during the second day of competition. Carter Mishler birdied the 16th and 17th holes on Wednesday to eventually capture a come-from-behind win. This is Carter's third win overall on the GJT and the first since the summer of 2020. He backed up his first day 66 with a 69 on Wednesday. Connor Ritter and Winston Brown both tied for second 1 stroke back with identical 136 stroke totals.

Hayley Dye captured her second career win on Wednesday. After 17 top 5 finishes in a long career, Hayley grabbed her second victory of the summer. She started the day in 5th place, but immediately birdied the first hole to set the tone for the day. Her second round 70 was the low round of the tournament and kept her two strokes clear of any competitors with a 147 total. Second place was shared by both Olivia Drankwalter and Anna Coccia. Olivia shot 76-73 and Anna went 73-76 for them to finish at 149.

Things were a little easier for CJ Scohy in the Boys 14-15 division. CJ used seven first round birdies en route to a 70. That built a six show lead after the first day. He as then able to put it in cruise control for a second round 72. The win is his third since the start on June and continues his torrid pace. The win is the third of CJ's career on the Golfweek Junior Tour. Alexander Ritter shot a first round 76 to sit alone in second place and backed that up with an even par 72 in round two. That was good for a tie for second with Cole Eger who shot the round of the day on Wednesday with a 70 to finish at 148.

It was a two horse race in the Girls 14 and Under division at NorthStar. Eva Lim shot the round of the tournament on Tuesday with a 2 under par 70. Kristina Ma was just two back after an even par 72. Kristina took the lead on the third hole on Wednesday and pushed the lead as high as five. Eva battled back, but could not close the entire gap. Kristina wound up with her first GJT win with a 145 total. Eva finished 1 back at 146. Nikita Suresh finished solo third at 159.

Fresh off of his win at the University of Michigan last week, Mitchell Corbin kept the hot streak going. One back to start the final day, Mitchell had a hole-in-one on the fourth hole to take the lead. He slipped back into a tie for the lead after a bogey on 11 but grabbed the lead for good on 12. His 72-73 was good for an eight shot victory. It was the second his Mitchell's career. Rocco Humphreys shot the round of the tournament with a 71 on Tuesday. H finished in second place with a 153 total. Rounding out the top three were Evan Menges and Michael Pagnotto at 155 each.
