Under par at Royal American
Ryan Seidensticker went wire to wire this weekend at Royal American golf links with the first round medalist round of 69, followed up with a 70 on Sunday. He led the field with 10 birdies this weekend, but even with all the fire power, it became a close match on Sunday between Ryan and Julian Dugan. Ryan would bogey the first two holes on Sunday and would see his lead cut to just 2 strokes over Julian. Both players would then birdie 3 holes on the front nine, and Ryan would extend his lead another stroke on the back nine with a 35. This is Ryan's first win on the GolfWeek Jr Tour.
Ava Bunker took over the Player of the Year race with her 5th win of the season. She now has a 130 point lead over Jenna Shilts, as the two have been going back and forth all Spring in the points race. Ava played steady golf all weekend with 6 birdies, 5 bogies and 25 pars. Her consistent play was enough to hold off Audrey Ryu, who posted the low round on Sunday with a 69 and finished the tournament just 1 stroke behind Ava's 143 total.
Cameron Phillips took home his second win this season with the help of 7 birdies for his 73-72 weekend rounds. The start of his Sunday round came with a triple bogey on his second hole, but he would battle back going 4 under par his final 12 holes. He would need those final 12 holes to come back as Luke Royer had taken the lead in the opening nine Sunday with a 4 under par 32 on the first nine holes. This win moves Cameron into 6th place in the Player of the Year race
Eliza Mercer and Alyssa Zhang would tie both Saturday and Sunday with rounds of 79-84. They would even tie with their two nine hole scores on Sunday with 41-43. To settle their tie, they would head to the playoff which started on hole #10 a par 5. Eliza Mercer would secure the win on that playoff hole with a par and claim her first GolfWeek Jr Tour win.
Brady Barnum secured his 3rd win on the GolfWeek Jr Tour this season. He was able to hold on to his 1 stroke victory while holding off Vishruth Badiga who posted the low round Sunday with a 71 and overtaking first round leader, Blake Hartman. This weekend's event was one of the largest fields this season for the Boys 13 & Under and catapults Brady into 3rd place in the Player of the Year race.
