Sullivan Comes Out on Top
Brennan Sullivan emerged from a very tightly packed group at the top of the leaderboard this weekend at Delaware Golf Club to claim his first Golfweek Junior Tour victory. The win comes in only his second start on the tour. Three players were within 2 shots for the entire duration of Sunday's round. Brennan's second round 72 tied for the low round of the tournament and sealed the win for him. He finished at 147 (75-72). Camden Kooi and Alec Cesare tied for second place. Camden posted back-to-back rounds of 74 for a 148 total and Alec shot 76-72 to also finish at 148. Winston Brown recorded a hole-in-one on the 14th hole of the second round.
Adam Thanaporn picked up his first ever win in the Boys 14-15 division this weekend at Ball State University's home course. Adam was coming off of two top 10 finishes in the last month and saw his hard work pay off Sunday. Despite being two shots back with two holes to play, Adam parred both of the last two holes to wrap up his victory. He shot 75-77 for a 152 total. Harrison Zipfel finished alone in second place after shooting rounds of 77 followed by 76 for a 153 total. Third place went to Carter Demske, who shot 75-79 (154).
Macaulay Myers had been knocking on the door for months now. He picked up five top 5 finishes including three second place finishes this season. Macaulay broke through and won his first GJT tournament on Sunday in Muncie, IN. Macaulay used a front nine 34 on Sunday to build up a four shot lead. Lyoto Belton battled back and both players were tied after 36 holes. Macaulay recorded a five on the first playoff hole to seal his win. Lyoto shot 78-75 for a 153 total to finish in second place. Ethan White shot 79-75 to finish in third place.
