Singh Adds Another Title
Athena Singh added another tournament championship over the weekend at Kearney Hill Golf Links. The Hall of Famer posted weekend scores of 70-71 for a 141 total and the sixth victory of her GJT career. Athena got off to a great start by grabbing the first round lead with a one under par 71, courtesy of five birdies. Her Sunday round included an eagle on the sixth hole and a birdie on the 18th to secure a one stroke win. Elise Fennel shot rounds of 74-68, 142 to finish in second place. Third place went to Isabella Christy with back to back 73s for a 146 total.
Ray Dress broke through for the first win of his Golfweek Junior Tour career this weekend. Ray took the overnight lead with a 3 under par 69 on Saturday that included three birdies and an eagle on the 18th hole. He played a very steady round on Saturday with just one bogey on his way to a two under par 70. The 139 total kept him on top of the leaderboard after 36 holes by a single shot. Evan Taylor mounted a furious comeback on Sunday but ran out of holes. He wound up at 140 total (75-65) and in second place. Conner McCall (71-70) took third place at 141.
Will Judd won for the second time in three weeks and for the third time in his Golfweek Junior Tour career. Will managed the round of the day on Saturday with an even par 72. He then followed that up with a four under par 68 on Sunday that tied for the round of the tournament. Will birdied four of his final five holes on Sunday to post a two stroke victory. That was enough to hold off Brody Alexander who birdied the final three holes of the tournament. Brody finished at 142 total (74-68). Winston Zhuang (73-72) and Tory Nguyen (74-71) tied for third at 145.
