Settles Late Birdie Spurs Win




Jacob Settles birdied the 36th hole of the tournament at Gibson Bay Golf Course to capture his second career victory on the Golfweek Junior Tour. After 27 holes, there was a large grouping near the top of the leaderboard and Jacob was in fourth place. However, he played the back nine in one under par including a birdie at the final hole to cement a one stroke victory. It was his first win since the summer of 2021 at Hueston woods Golf Course. Clifton Scully and Luke Barrett both shot 146 to finish tied for second, one back. Scully shot 70-76 and Barrett shot 73-73 on the weekend.






The Boys 14-15 division similarly had a close finish. Cayse Morgan shot a 70 on Saturday to take the overnight lead. The four shot lead he started the day with was cut down to one shot after just five holes on Sunday. Morgan kept his composure and closed the day with a 75 for a 145. That earned him his 8th career GJT win and third of the season. Evan Taylor mounted a charge but came up one shot short after 36 holes. He carded 74-72 during the weekend for a 146 total and second place. Third place went to Charlie Spiller after shooting 75-75, 150 total.






Athena Singh tied for the low round of the day on both Saturday and Sunday to vault her into a playoff after 36 holes. Athena then birdied the first hole of the playoff to seal her 4th career GJT win and first since the 2020 season. She shot 75-73 for a 148 total. It's the lowest total she has recorded on the Golfweek Junior Tour. Kate Brody shot identical scores of 75-73 this weekend to force a playoff. she ultimately finished in second place at 148 total. After a 76-73, 149 total, Claira Beth Ramsey ended the weekend in third place.






Grayson Hayden staged a Sunday comeback in the Boys 13 and Under division to win his first Golfweek Junior Tour title. Grayson started the day three back, but went out in 35 to snag a one shot lead. He never let up on the back and finished the day with a 74, just as he had on Saturday. His 148 total was good for a five shot victory when all was said and done. Benjamin Berridge shot a 71 on Saturday and followed that up with an 82 on Sunday for a 153 total and second place. Alex Cook shot 77-80 for a 157 total and finished in third.






Karis Reid shot the round of the day both days in the Girls 14 and Under division to wrap up her first Golfweek Junior Tour win. In the process, she shaved off 11 shots from her performance last week. Karis shot 83-90 for a 173 total over the two day event. Sage Shriver finished the tournament in second place after shooting 108-108 for a 216 total.
