Rainy weekend at Elks Run

In her first event on the GolfWeek Jr Tour in almost a year, the University of Illinois commit, Anna Ritter fired the round of the tournament on Sunday with 2 under par, 69 to take home the title. On a cold and rainy Saturday, she put herself in contention with a solid 74 and just three strokes back on first round medalist, Ava Bunker. Sunday brought more drizzles and cold temperatures for players to have to deal with, and Anna's round kicked into gear on the back nine with 4 birdies to close with a 32. Her final nine was enough to propel her to a 2 stroke victory over Lizzie Saur who posted rounds of 72-73.

Carson Bellish is our new leader in the Player of the Year race for the Boys 16-19 division with his impressive win at Elks Run this weekend. The 480 points he earned was enough to overtake Mason Deal, and will now try and hold on for the rest of the year. The biggest contribution to his win was his incredible first round score of 3 under par, round of 68, which he was forced to finish Sunday morning due to heavy rain calling the day short. Sunday's round started with a few bogies and a double on the 12h, but he was able to bring in the round with 2 birdies on the last 5 holes to win by 1 stroke over Max Leppelmeier who tied for the low round Sunday with a 71.

McKean Collins posted his first win in over 2.5 years on the GolfWeek Jr Tour and did it posting the low round of his age division with a 72 on Sunday. McKean posted the low round both days (75-72) and was able to secure a 7 stroke victory over Ethan Kasler and Tyler Brockwell. His 7 birdies for the weekend also lead his age division and was set him apart on a very difficult scoring weekend.

Michael Stagnaro survived cold and rainy conditions on Saturday to post the medalist round of 73, low round by 4 strokes. His 73 included 3 birdies and no double bogies, an impressive feat for that day. On Sunday it would all come down to his final hole 18 where he would make a birdie to win the event by 1 stroke over Cole Eger who posted the round of the day for his division with a 73. This is Michael's 2nd win of the 2020-2021 season and he rises to 5th in the Player of the Year race for the Boys 13 & Under division.

Posting the low round for both Saturday and Sunday, Elizabeth Ryu claimed a 6 stroke victory in the Girls 14 & Under with two very solid rounds of 77-76 on a cold and rainy weekend. This marks her 2nd win this season and moves her into a tie for first in the Player of the Year race in the Girls 14 & Under division with Reagan Ramage. Her Sunday round came with an impressive 14 pars in another cold and raining day at Elks Run in what would be another solid performance from Elizabeth.
