Playoffs in South Bend
Brody McCarthy took home his first Golfweek Jr Tour trophy on Sunday at the Warren Course at Notre Dame. His rounds of 72-68 earned him a spot in a playoff with Alec Cesare. Following pars on the first playoff hole, Brody rolled in a birdie on #2 to take the title.
Ball State commit Alec Cesare continued his stellar play at the Warren Course, posting rounds of 67-73, adding a runner-up finish to his resume at Warren that includes two wins.
Ieuan Jones of Ann Arbor finished third, carding a steady even par 71 both rounds.
The Boys 13 & Under contest ended Sunday afternoon with a three-way tie at one over par 143. The playoff featured last week's winner Elijah Lemmon (70-73), Ryan Cesare (74-69), and Luc Kelty (73-70). Elijah rolled in a 12-footer for birdie on #1 at The Warren Course to take home the trophy.
Ryan Cesare joined his older brother Alec in taking home the runner-up medal.
Luc Kelty's eight birdies over two rounds and steady play earned him third.
Carter Demske won the Boys 14-15 division on Sunday at Notre Dame. Carter's rounds of 71-72 were good for a 6-shot victory in the 14-15 division, and 4th place overall. His 6-shot victory included 5 birdies and 25 pars on the difficult Warren Course.
Silas Haarer continued his great summer with a runner-up finish, posting rounds of 76-73. He now has two wins and a runner up in his last three starts.
Third place finisher CJ Scohy also added on to his outstanding summer. In six events this summer, CJ has three wins, one runner-up, and 6 top 5's.
Butler University commit Cybil Stillson ended her junior golf career on top by capturing the Girls 15-19 trophy on Sunday at Notre Dame. Her rounds of 74-73 included six birdies and earned her a 4-shot victory.
Melanie Maier of Richmond, TX finished runner-up in her first event on the GJT. Melanie carded 5 birdies over two days and posted rounds of 75-76. Ally Turner of Dayton took home third place honors.
