New Season, New Champions!

The 2021-2022 season was started off with a 36 hole, one day event at NCR CC's North Course. Yesterday the players had to contend with on and off rain and delays, on top of what was already a long day. Our champions had to remain patient as play was not completed and final scores tabulated until just before sunset.

To make a long day even longer, our overall boys 16-19 division had a tie between Corbin Bentley and Carson Trafford at 1 under par, 139. The two boys would immediately head to #10 tee to get a playoff in before darkness. After tying with pars on #10 and #11. Corbin would drain a 12 footer on #8 to take home the Boys 16-19 title and overall boys title.

In the Girls 15-19 division, Madison Spiess would defend her title from last year where she won this 36 hole event. This year she would win while dealing with rain delays and needing to come back from a 1 stroke deficit to Lilly Middleton and Morgan Rogers after the first round. Morgan would play the front nine at NCR in the afternoon in even par with 1 birdie and 1 bogey which would be the boost she needed to win the title by just two strokes over Lilly Middleton, Morgan Rogers, and Maddie Heister at 155.

Zach Radtke would post medalist rounds in both the morning and afternoon at NCR CC for a 74 - 72 146 total. In the morning round he would tie with Landen Howard at 74, 4 over par. It was in the afternoon round that he distanced himself from the field with 3 birdies and 5 bogies to post a 72 and the low round of the event for the Boys 14-15 division. This is Zach's first win on the GolfWeek Jr Tour and he now leads the player of the year race in his age division.

Micah Sheffer took his first win home on the GolfWeek Jr Tour yesterday with a solid 75 performance in the afternoon for a 78-75 total to distance himself from Dylan Somma and the rest of the field. Micah would post 2 birdies in the afternoon having to deal with the rain delays and changing conditions throughout the day. He would edge out Dylan Somma who posted rounds of 78-79 and carded 3 birdies for the day.
