Miller Pulls Out Tight Win at Rock Hollow
Greg Miller captured his first Golfweek Junior Tour victory on Sunday at Rock Hollow Golf Club. After playing steady for 35 holes, he found himself in a 4-way tie standing on the 36th tee box. With a clutch birdie, he sealed a one stroke win. It was a fitting end to the weekend as Miller led the field in birdies with nine. It was just the second GJT start for Greg and his first win. He shot a 71-70 for a 141 total. That number kept him one stroke clear of Kyle Smetiouk and Sam Sutton who tied for second at 142. Kyle had the low round of the tournament with a 68 on Sunday.
The Boys 14-15 division was also hotly contested. Nick Miller held a small lead over Ryan Cesare for most of the weekend. However, Cesare turned it on when it mattered most. He shot a 35 on the back nine on Sunday including a birdie on the 35th hole which brought both players into a tie. When they both parred the 36th hole, they headed to a playoff. Ryan birdied the first hole of the playoff to nab his first GJT win in only his second tournament. Cesare and Miller both finished with a 149 total. Jackson McCullough came in third with a 153 total.
The 13 and Under division featured lots of great scores on Sunday, including four different players under par. However, only one player was under par on Saturday. That turned out to be the difference. Elijah Lemmon shot a pair of 70s over the weekend which put him at a 140 total. It was his third win in the last three weeks. His hot streak was enough to hold off Macauley Myers' Sunday 68. That followed on the heels on a 75 for a 143 total for him. Brycen Tisch shot 145 to wrap up third place.
