Long Wins at Hueston Woods
Carson Long led start to finish in a dominating performance in the Boys 14-15 division. He fired a first round 75 which gave him a seven stroke overnight lead after Saturday. It was more of the same on Sunday as Carson recorded five birdies en route to an even par 72, including playing the final 11 hole in three under. It was the second win of his Golfweek Junior Tour career. Zach Ayers posted rounds of 82-74 for a 156 total and a second place finish. Ben Zellers rounded out the top three with rounds of 84-80 for a 164 total. Carson would also par the first playoff hole, #18, to win the overall Boys 14-19 title against Troy Chapman
Troy Chapman was locked in a battle for the entire back nine on Sunday at Hueston Woods Golf Course. With a birdie on the par 3 18th hole, he sealed his first career Golfweek Junior Tour victory. The win capped a comeback that started with Troy down five strokes to begin the day. He got off to a great start with a birdie at the first hole and added four more before the final hole for six total birdies in his final round. Troy shot 77-70 on the weekend for a 147 total. Owen Mault finished in second place with a 72-77, 149 total. Landon Harris (77-73), Torin Mulcahy (74-76), and Bryson White (74-76) tied for third place.
Blake Rohling was in control of the tournament at Hueston Woods from the drop this weekend. His first round 79 put him in the lead by five shots and despite some front nine bogeys on Sunday, the lead never shrank to less than two. Blake made two birdies on the back to close that side at even and secure his first Golfweek Junior Tour title. It was a great breakthrough for Blake after 16 previous top 5 finishes. Michael Moorman posted rounds of 84-75 for a 159 total and second place. Luke Whitmer (87-79, 166) came in third.
