Late Birdies Seal Win for Fauver

Sam Fauver birdied both the 15th and 16th holes at NorthStar Golf Club on Wednesday afternoon to wrap up his fourth career Golfweek Junior Tour victory. Sam shot a five under par 67 in the first round and despite a solid second round, he was caught from behind and trailed with just four holes to play. The two aforementioned birdies were enough to earn him a one stroke win with a six under par 138 total. With his win, Sam joins the Golfweek Junior Tour Hall of Fame. Peyton Blackard (72-67) and Achira Chumchaivate (67-72) tied for second place at 139 total.

It was a double dip for the Fauvers on Wednesday as Ben Fauver picked up his fourth career win as well. Ben recorded the low round of the tournament on Tuesday with a three under par 69 that included five birdies. That round was backed up with an even par 72 the following day. The 141 total allowed Ben to cruise to a comfortable four stoke margin of victory. It was Ben's second win of the new season and his second in two weeks. Second place went to Conor Hickey with his 74-71, 145 total. Micah Sheffer (76-71) shot 147 to finish in third.

Lorna Zhang finished the event at NorthStar on a high note. Down two shots with two holes to play, she birdied both 17 and 18 to force a playoff. Lorna then parred the first playoff hole, #10, to garner her third career Golfweek Junior Tour victory and first in almost two years. Lorna's final round 70 tied the lowest GJT round of her career and was also the low round of the tournament. She shot 145 over two days. Ting-Yu Kuo claimed second place with a 73-72, 145 total. Kristina Ma ended up in third place with a 75-77, 152 total.

Blaise Barnum continued his dominant run in the Boys 13 and Under division. Blaise captured his third win of the young season and third in a row as well. His first round 69 included seven birdies. He added four more in his second round on his way to a one under par 71. Blaise finished the tournament at 140, four under par. His 11 birdies more than doubled the total of anyone else in the field. Michael Moorman shot 74-73 for a 147 total and second place. Colt Altenburg finished in third after rounds of 72-80 for a 152 total.
