Kubica with Come-from-Behind Win

Konner Kubica started his Sunday morning tied for third place, two strokes behind the leaders in the 16-19 division at Forest Akers West Golf Course. He then proceeded to ring up five birdies on his way to a three under par 69 and his first Golfweek Junior Tour win. Konner took the lead for good with a birdie on the 13th hole and never looked back. He parred the remaining five holes to seal the victory. Konner shot 72-69 for a 141 total over the two days. Kai Warner (76-68) finished in second at 144. Michael Houtterman shot rounds of 71-74 for third place and a 145 total.

Cooper Reitsma was fantastic on Sunday at Forest Akers West putting up five birdies, including four in a seven hole span on the back nine. All those birdies contributed to a three under par 69 and Cooper's first Golfweek Junior Tour victory. His round on Sunday came on the heels of a 74 on Saturday. Those two rounds totaled a one under par 143. That total was good for an eight shot margin of victory, one of the largest of the year. Mattingly Upchurch shot 72-79, 151 to take second place. Troy Nguyen (76-77, 153) rounded on the top 3.

Tommy Preston fired the round of the day on both days over Labor Day weekend at Michigan State's Forest Akers West Golf Course to capture his first Golfweek Junior Tour title. Preston was exceptionally consistent with no hole worse than a bogey over the two day event. He made three birdies to lead the field as well. Preston ended up with a total of 147 after scores of 73-74. Matt Filipp (76-75) finished at 151 total and in second place. Third place went to Thomas Thanaporn who shot 79-75, 154.
