Ieuan Jones into the Hall of Fame
With his second overall boys win this past weekend at Stone Ridge. and 9th win of his career, Ieuan Jones has been admitted into the Hall of Fame. Ieuan has been playing on the GolfWeek Jr Tour since the Fall of 2018 where he took home 2 wins in the Boys 13 & Under at University of Michigan and The Fort in Indianapolis. In the past 4 seasons, he has amassed 9 wins and an amazing 3 wins in his past 3 starts. Since the hall of fame requires 4 wins and 2 of them must be overall wins, Ieuan was just waiting for his second overall win. This weekend in cold and windy conditions, Ieuan would dominate the field with a 4 under par, 140, total that included 10 birdies and nothing worse than a bogey. His two rounds were enough to win the Boys 14-15 division by 7 strokes and the overall boys title by 5.
Ieuan will be added to the Hall of Fame later this week and you can view that page here: Hall of Fame
Mason Deal, the University of Toledo commit, took home his 2nd career victory on the GolfWeek Jr Tour this past weekend at Stone Ridge with a 1 over par, 145, total. His first round 71 included 3 birdies and just 2 bogies, and earned him medalist honors in round one. He would claim medalist honors again in round two with a 74, which saw the highlight of the round come when he birdied holes 5, 6, and 7 in a row. His 145 total was good enough for a 5 stroke victory over second place finisher Beau Brewer, 150.
Another player getting their second victory on the GolfWeek Jr Tour was Mattingly Upchurch. Starting 6 strokes behind the first round leader, Troy Nguyen, Mattingly posted the low round of the tournament for the Boys 13 & Under with a 1 under par, 71 on a cold and windy Sunday. He would claim the victory by just 1 stroke over Landon Snyder by finishing his last 8 holes in 2 under par.
