Hicks Goes Low on Sunday at Purgatory

After a few good tournament to start the year, Justin Hicks posted a four under par 68 on Sunday to claim his first Golfweek Junior Tour victory at Purgatory Golf Club. The round included five birdies against only one bogey. Justin's first round 71 left him tied for the overnight lead. He came out white hot to start his final round, posting four birdies over the first seven holes to take a command of the lead that he would not give up. Konner Kubica (77-68), Torin Mulcahy (73-72), and Harrison Zipfel (72-73) finished in a three way tie for second place.

After a front nine 38 on Sunday, Nick Vilela found himself out of the lead he shared from the opening round on Saturday. Nick continued battling throughout the back nine but could not seem to make up any ground. He never had the lead until the final putt dropped, but Nick's birdie on the 36th hole gave him his first Golfweek Junior Tour title. He finished the weekend with scores of 73-75 for a 148 total. Dillon Walworth came in second place at 149 (74-75). Third place went to Dylan Logsdon at 150 (73-77).

Marissa GeRue posted the low round of the day on both Saturday and Sunday at Purgatory en route to getting back into the winner's circle on the Golfweek Junior Tour. Marissa previously won in the spring of 2020 at Kearney Hill Golf Links. Marissa came out hot and shot an even par 36 on the front nine on Saturday. She never let off the gas and led the field in birdies for the weekend while shooting 76-82 for a 158 total. Olivia Fowler (83-84) finished in second place with a 167 total. Third place went to Brianna Wang with a 97-95, 192 total.

Patrick Myers posted the round of the day on both days at Purgatory Golf Club to snag his second win this season after winning at Notre Dame in August. Patrick's 70-71, 141 total outpaced the field by eight shots. Patrick took the lead for good on the 11th hole on Saturday and never looked back, recording four birdies on that side on his way to a 33. For good measure, he added another five birdies on Sunday to reach 10 on the weekend. Ethan White (73-76) and Landon Tropf (77-72) tied for second at 149.

The Girls 14 and Under division featured a hotly contested duel. With just five holes to play, two of the competitors were tied. Myra Sealey took the lead for the final time after the 16th hole and held that one stroke lead for the remainder of the tournament. The end result was Myra's first Golfweek Junior Tour win. She shot 78-85 for a 163 total for the two day tournament. Karis Reid finished the weekend in second place with scores of 82-8 for a 164 total. Sage Shriver came in third with scores of 97-95 for a 192 total.
