Hemmila Wins Huge Playoff




Olivia Hemmila parred for straight holes on Sunday to win a playoff for the Girls 15-19 division at Elks Run Golf Club. The win was the first of Olivia's career on the Golfweek Junior Tour. The playoff involved four golfers, a GJT record. Olivia shot a 33 on the back nine on Sunday to get into the playoff and kept up her hot play for the victory. She shot 79-71 for a 150 total over two days. There was a three-way tie for second place among Caroline Whallon (77-73), Elizabeth Ryu (72-78), and Anna Coccia (76-74) at 150 as well.






Kyle Smith posted the low round of the day on Sunday to capture the Boys 16-19 division at Elks Run. Heading into the final nine holes, Kyle was three strokes behind the leader. However, he was able to post a 35 coming in and collected his first Golfweek Junior Tour victory. Kyle was steady all weekend, never recording anything worse than a bogey. He shot 72-71 for a 143 total. Jacob Ryan finished second at Elks Run with scores of 71-73 for a two over par 144 total. Jake Wittenauer (72-73) and Logan Sutto (69-76) tied for third place at 145.






Holden Orofino parred the first hole of a playoff to pick up the win in the Boys 14-15 division this weekend. After seven straight top 10s without a win on the Golfweek Junior Tour, Holden broke through for the first of his career. Holden shot 72-79 over the two day tournament and he also led the field with six birdies. His 151 total put him into the playoff with Matthew Gerstemeier, which Holden won. Matthew came in second place with weekend scores of 75-76. Ethan Argus shot 75-77 for a 152 total and third place.






Patrick Paquette fired the round of the day on both days of the weekend at Elks Run to secure his first Golfweek Junior Tour win in just his third start. Saturday's 75 gave Patrick a two stroke cushion after 18 holes. His Sunday 73 gave him the low round once again by two shots and a four shot victory. The 75-73, 148 total bests his old best 36 hole total by eight strokes. Patrick led the field in birdies with six over the weekend. Ethan White shot 77-75 for a 152 total and finished in second place. Third place went to Eli Rowland who shot 80-80 for a 160 total.






Sata Kertpet opened up Saturday with an 83 which gave her a 9 stroke lead heading into Sunday. From there, she cruised to a 15 shot victory. Her 83 on Saturday as the low round of the tournament and the 87 on Sunday tied for the second-lowest round of the tournament. The win is the first of Sata's Golfweek Junior Tour career. She finished the weekend at 170. Kate Plessinger came in second place with scores of 94-91for a 185 total. Brielle Starnes finished one stroke back of that at 186 (99-87).






Charlie Drapp made a hole in one on Sunday on the 17th hole!
