Harris Takes Title at Polo Fields

Samuel Harris found himself in an unenviable situation with three holes left to play on Sunday at Polo Fields: he was two strokes behind the leader. Samuel stepped up and birdied the 16th hole and then eagled the 36th hole of the two day tournament to seal his first Golfweek Junior Tour victory. The win capped a weekend in which Harris was the only player to shoot even par or better on both days and led the field in birdies. He shot 70-72 for a 142 total. Griffin Barke finished in second place with scores of 73-70, 143 total. Savyasaachi Kandula and Peyton Blackard tied for third with identical 77-72, 149 totals.

Keira Yun posted the round of the day in the Girls 15-19 division on Saturday with a two over par 74 at Polo Fields. That round gave her a three stroke lead. It was all she needed as the lead never got below two on Sunday. Keira cruised to another 74 and a three shot win. It is the third Golfweek Junior Tour win of Keira's career and the first since November 2020. Her 148 total was her second best 36 hole score on the GJT. Emma Lindemoen posted rounds of 77-74 for a 151 total and second place. Mia Melenedez shot 78-81 for a 159 total and rounded out the top three.

Grayson Hayden's steady play over the weekend earned him his second Golfweek Junior Tour win of his career and his first since moving to the Boys 14-15 division. Grayson easily led the field in pars over the two days, recording a whopping 27, 75% of his holes. His opening round 77 left him in third place, but he continued to climb the leaderboard on Sunday, eventually taking the lead on his 12th hole of the day. Grayson brought it home with a 73 and 150 total. Luc Kelty fired rounds of 75-79 for a 154 total and second place. Jacob Rafferty shot 76-79 and was an additional shot back in third.

Brookman Tyrer led from start to finish this past weekend at Polo Fields in Louisville. Brookman started strong with a birdie on the third hole on Saturday and wrapped up that opening round at one under par 71. Sunday was smooth sailing as he fired a front nine 35. He had a four stroke lead at that point. Even a few bogeys on the back nine did not hurt him as he closed out a 75 for a 146 total. Zane Reuger put up back to back rounds of 74 for a148 total and came in second. Luke Elliott (75-76) and Blake Rohling (81-70) tied for third place at 151.

Karis Reid shot the round of the day on both Saturday and Sunday at Polo Fields to claim her third career Golfweek Junior Tour victory. In the first round, Karis closed the back nine with a two over par 38 on her way to an 82 on the day. She followed that up on Sunday with an 86. Those two rounds together gave Karis an 11 stroke margin of victory. Avery Lewis shot rounds of 89-90 for a 179 total and finished in second place. Layna Patel came in third place after shooting scores of 93-101 for a 194 total.
