Harris, Straubel win at NCR CC & Pipestone GC

GWJT Elite Event at NCR CC:




Our double header weekend kicked off at NCR Country Club with our second Elite Event of the 2024-2025 Season. The North Course at NCR proved to be another great test of golf for our field of elite players. The Boys 16-19 division was crowded at the top of the leaderboard after the opening round. Cayse Morgan, Xavier University Commit, opened with the low round of 69 (-1), but had 23 boys within 5 strokes of his lead. Samuel Harris, who opened with a round of 71 (+1), carded 3 birdies on Sunday on his way to a final round 68 (-2). Samuel Harris would finish the event at 139 (-1) to earn a one-stroke victory in the Boys 16-19 and overall Boys 14-19 division titles! Cayse Morgan finished runner up at level par, 140 after rounds of 69-71. Alex Rollman, Andy Steed and William Hudson finished in a tie for third place at 142 (+2).






The Girls 15-19 division was also a tight race at the top of the leaderboard through the opening round with Ainsley Wilson leading the way at level par, 71. Jaunita Beatrix Tandoc and Alyssa Zhang were both one stroke back from Wilson heading into the final round. Meadow Tian, who carded a 73 (+2) in round 1, made a final round charge including 3 birdies on her way to a 72 (+1) to take home the Girls 15-19 division title. Meadow finished the event with a two-day total of 145 (+3) and a four-stroke victory! Juanita Beatrix Tandoc was our runner up finisher at 149 (+7). Josie Kelley and Ainsley Wilson finished in a tie for third place at 150 (+8).






Landon Synder led the Boys 14-15 division from wire-to-wire with rounds of 70-71 to finish the event at 141 (+1) and take home the division title by five strokes! Landon carded 8 birdies over the 36 holes of competition, the most of any player in the field! Griffin Wullenweber finished runner up with rounds of 75-71 for a two-day total of 146 (+6). Grayson Hayden rounded out our podium finishers at 147 (+7), after rounds of 73-74.




GWJT at Pipestone GC:





Pipestone Golf Club was host to another full field of players for our double header weekend. The Boys 16-19 division needed extra holes to decide its victor after Charlie Straubel, Carter Gibson and Sergio Yamamoto were tied at the top of the leaderboard after 36 holes of competition. The threesome of players carded two-day totals of 149 (+5) and would head to the par 4, 1st hole at Pipestone GC for the sudden death playoff. Charlie Straubel would make a birdie, 3 on the first playoff hole to take home the Boys 16-19 and overall Boys 14-19 division titles! Carter Gibson and Sergio Yamamoto both take home runner up honors.

Katie Husted and Paige Treherne, Ohio University commits, took command of the Girls 15-19 division at Pipestone GC. Katie would take home the trophy and earn her first GWJT victory after rounds of 81-79 for a two-day total of 160 (+16). Paige finished runner up, 3 strokes behind at 163 (+19). Sage Shriver rounded out our podium finishers at 164 (+20).






Colt Altenburg took home the Boys 14-15 division title by one stroke over Zac McGrath. Colt carded consistent rounds of 75-75, including 5 birdies for a two-total score of 150 (+6). Zac McGrath finished runner up with rounds of 79-72, with the 72 being the low round of tournament! Beckett Dodge and Benjamin Scheiwer finished in a tie for third place at 153 (+9).






The Girls 14 and Under division was won by Hannah Kim with rounds of 77-76 for a two-day total of 153 (+9). Hannah was one stroke back of the lead heading into the final round, where she would card 3 birdies on her way to lifting the trophy! Amelia Buettner earned runner up honors with rounds of 76-83 to finish six strokes back of the lead at 159 (+15). Eva Emerson rounded out our top 3 with a total score of 165 (+21).






The Boys 13 and Under division was led from wire-to-wire by Scribner Dailey IV with rounds of 72-74 to finish the event at 146 (+2) and earn a one stroke victory! Scribner carded 9 birdies over the 36 holes of competition, tied for the most of any player in the field. William Qiao finished runner up with rounds of 75-72, at 147 (+3). Maximus Humphreys rounded out our podium finishers at 148 (+4), after rounds of 76-72.
