Future Cardinal, Johnston wins at Ball State
Our second visit to Ball State University on our Fall schedule, this time Delaware Country Club played host to our field of players. The Boys 16-19 division had a tight race with the top 15 players within 6 strokes of the lead after the opening round. Tommy Klinker led the way after a 2-under par round of 68, with Luke Johnston one stroke behind heading into the final round. Luke would continue his excellent play during the second round, carding 2 birdies enroute to another 1-under par round of 69. Luke finished the event with a total score of 138 (-2) and took home the Boys 16-19 division and overall Boys 14-19 division title! Cameron Chattin shot the round of the tournament on day 2 with a 3-under par 67, which propelled him up the leaderboard into a tie for second place with Holden Orofino at 2-over par.
The Boys 14-15 division was also tight at the top with 11 players within striking distance of the lead after round 1. Jack Burrice and Landon Tropf led the way through the first day after rounds of 68 (-2). Tommy Preston, Luke Haarer and Brycen Tisch were right on their heels going into Sunday's round. It became a 3-way battle late on Sunday as Burrice, Tropf and Preston were all within one-stroke of each other coming down the stretch. Jack Burrice was able to edge out in front by playing his final four holes in one-under par. Jack took home the Boys 14-15 division title by one stroke after rounds of 68-73 (+1). Landon Tropf and Tommy Preston finished in a tie for second place at 142 (+2).
The Boys 13 & Under division needed extra holes to decide its victor as Zach Kinzer and Logan Gowin were tied at the top after 36 holes of play. Zach carded rounds of 68-77 and Logan 73-72 to finish the event at 5-over par. Zach would seal the victory with a par on the first playoff hole and take home the trophy! Graham Moore finished in 3rd place at 12-over par after rounds of 78-74.
