Elite Champions at Harmony Landing

Abigail Sutherland took home her second GolfWeek Jr Tour win this weekend, her last was 3 years ago at Bowling Green CC. The girls division came down to the final nine holes between Abigail and Clare Yeazell with Clare having a one stroke lead. On the final nine Clare would earn the sportswoman of the week by calling a penalty on herself that was incurred while moving her ball on a putting green. After that penalty, the title was down to the wire with both girls finishing the final 4 holes in 1 under par. Abigail Sutherland would take home the title with a 75-76 and claim the first elite event of 2022.

Neri Checcucci flew all the way from his home town in Florence, Italy to compete in his first GolfWeek Jr Tour event this weekend at Harmony Landing. In the cold, rain, and wind he would open with a 40 on his first nine holes. Faced with a 4 over par start to his tournament, he would turn things around and fire a 33 the second nine. Going into the second round, Neri and the defending champion, Jack Vojtko, would light the front nine on fire, posting a 33 and 31 respectively. The dual came to a pivotal moment on the 17th green, when Neri would make a downhill birdie putt to pull 2 strokes ahead of Jack and claim the victory on 18 for the Boys 16-19 division and the overall Boys title.

Peyton Blackard took home his second Elite Event title with an outstanding 74-72 146 total this weekend. His two day score came in 4 strokes below second place, Griffin Barke, with a closing nine hole score of 34 and a birdie on the last hole. His victory this weekends marks Peyton's 9th victory on the GolfWeek Jr Tour and he is quickly becoming one of the winningest players in tour history.
