Duflo wins at Polo Fields
The Boys 16-19 division was tight at the top after the opening round with Will Pennanen, Blaise Krol and Mathieu Duflo all tied with rounds of 2-over par, 74. Pennanen got off to a quick start in the second round, carding 3 birdies on the first 4 holes to jump out in front. He would hold a one-stroke lead heading into the back nine over Krol and Duflo. Matthieu Duflo 'turned up the heat' on the back nine and carded a bogey-free, 2-under par 34! Duflo finished the event at 1-over par with rounds of 74-71 and took home the Boys 16-19 division by two-strokes. Will Pennanen and Blaise Krol finished in a tie for second place at 3-over par, 147.
Although Duflo had already won the Boys 16-19 division, his work was not yet finished. Nicklaus Smith (Boys 14-15) and Matthieu Duflo were tied at 1-over par in the overall Boys 14-19 division. They would need extra holes to decide the winner via a sudden death playoff. Both boys made par on the first playoff hole and would head to the second hole where Matthieu poured in a 5-foot bending par putt to take home the overall Boys 14-19 division title!
Although coming up just shy of the overall title, Nicklaus Smith took home the trophy in the Boys 14-15 division after a four-stroke victory! Nicklaus opened with the round of the tournament, making 4 birdies on his way to a 2-under par, 70. He would card a round of 3-over par, 75 in the final round to finish the event with a total score of 145. Sumner Meekhof finished runner up after rounds of 75-74, at five-over par. Matthew Filipp rounded out our podium finishers at 11-over par, 155.
Crosby Robinson took home the Boys 13 & Under title after carding rounds of 88-84 for a two-day total of 172. Trey Bunner carded rounds of 97-88.
