Desai Navigates Windy Hueston Woods
Ravi Desai started his Sunday two strokes off the lead after an opening round of 1 over par 73 at Hueston Woods Golf Course. He came out firing and birdied the first three holes of the second round, grabbing the lead. Ravi then parred 12 of the final 15 holes to coast to a three shot win. The victory was the first of Ravi's Golfweek Junior Tour career in just his third start. Owen Hielmann finished the weekend in second place after rounds of 71-75 for a 146 total. Hudson Burkey shot 77-74 for a 151 and third place.
Jack Flores fired an opening round 76 that left him three strokes off the lead and in a tie for fifth place. Jack clawed his way back to pull into a three way tie for the lead with just two holes remaining. Jack parred 17 and birdied the final hole of the tournament to secure his first career Golfweek Junior Tour title. His final round included four birdies and ended up being the round of the tournament at even par 72. Gaven Augenstein (76-74) and George Baker (73-77) both tied at 150 and shared second place.
Athena Singh kept the hot steak going this spring at Indian Ridge Golf Club with her third straight win this spring. It was the eighth win in Athena's Golfweek Junior Tour career. She opened the weekend with the round of the day on Saturday with an even par 72. She then followed that up with a two under par 70, a round that included four birdies. The 142 total kept her three strokes clear of her nearest competitor. Keira Yun posted a 78-67, 145 total and finished in second place. Meadow Tian (75-72) wound up in third place at 147.
Ellie Gonzalez-Ribble ripped off her fifth win this season in six starts on the Golfweek Junior Tour and the sixth of her career. Ellie's opening round 75 kept her five strokes clear of the field as the round of the day. That made Sunday relatively stress-free. She was able to cruise to a Sunday 79 and finished three shots ahead of anyone else. Ellie led the field in birdies over the weekend with six. Hannah Kim posted rounds of 81-76, 157 and nabbed second place. Caroline Lankford shot 81-77 and finished one stroke back in third place.
Grant Guetig opened with a 75 on Saturday at Indian Ridge Golf Club which left him four strokes off the lead after the opening round. Grant went to work early on Sunday. He pushed his round to three under par through 14 holes before settling at an even par 72. The win was the second of the season for Grant after a win at Purdue in the summer. Grant finished at 147 and one ahead of anyone else. Landon Tropf shot 71-77 for a 148 total and came in scond place. Alex Wang posted rounds of 75-74 for a 149 and third place.
