Brown & Smith conquer wind at Kearney & UK Club

On a calm Saturday Macie Brown set the pace at Kearney Hill Links with a 3 under par round of 69. That first round featured 3 birdies and an eagle on her way to establishing the lead by one stroke over Elizabeth Eberle's round of 70. Sunday at Kearney Hills, however, featured an entirely different playing condition with winds between 30-40 mph and a cold front moving in. After a front nine score of 36 on Sunday Macie was able to hold on to the lead on the back nine and post a 3 stroke victory with rounds of 69-82-151 over Casey Powell's consistent rounds of 77-77-154.

In what may go down as one of the best rounds of the Fall season, Marcus Smith posted a 1 under par 71 in winds of 30-40 mph all day. Starting the day in the second to last group, Marcus had to play in the middle of the windy conditions and posted a round that was 3 better than the next best round, and 11 strokes better than the field average. His 5 birdies gave him the ability to survive the difficult conditions and win the Boys 16-19 division by an incredible 5 strokes. over Joe Wilson IV who tied for the second low round of the day with a 74 on Sunday.

In his first win on the GolfWeek Jr Tour, Seth Smith led the field after round 1 with a score of 73 made possible by an eagle and a birdie. With the wind as a huge element in round 2, his 78 actually tied for the low round of the day with eventual runner up Michael Long. The tournament did get close on the last two holes with Michael making up 3 shots in the final 2 holes, but it wasn't enough to catch Seth who parred his last hole for the win.

Keira Yun secured her first win on the GolfWeek Jr Tour with an impressive first round of 81. Her first round included birdies on the 1st and 10th holes to take the first round lead by 7 strokes over Ellie Ryu. She would distance herself even more on Sunday in the wind and difficult conditions and claim the champion spot

In his first start on the GolfWeek Jr Tour, Weston Miller, was the first round medalist and had to go an extra hole to claim the title against Brady Barnum. Weston's first round of 68 gave him the lead position, but only by 1 stoke over Brady. However, after a double bogey on the 10th hole in the second round, Weston would give up the lead to Brady until the last hole where they tied. A playoff was required to determine the title and one hole #1 Weston's par was enough to secure him the victory.
