Birdie Binge Equals Win for Stagnaro
Michael Stagnaro put up a whopping 13 birdies over the weekend at Cherry Blossom Golf and Country Club to grab his first Golfweek Junior Tour win in almost three years. The win is the third overall title of Michael's career. Michael bogeyed holes 8 and 9 on Saturday to make the turn at 38 but then caught fire on the back. He posted a GJT record-tying six under par 30 on the back nine. Michael's 68-70, 138 was good for a four shot victory. Cael Ropietski posted rounds of 70-72 for a 142 total and second place. Colton Lusk (71-72) rounded out the top three at 143.
Colton Woosley birdied his final hole of the tournament at Cherry Blossom Golf and Country Club to capture his first Golfweek Junior Tour title. The timely birdie provided the one stroke final margin of victory after a weekend with a very crowded leaderboard at the top. Colton posted five birdies in his two under par round of 70 on Saturday. He finished the weekend (75-70) at one over par, 145 total. Brody Alexander (76-70) and Luc Kelty (75-71) both tied for second place at 146 total.
Eva Brown tied for the round of the day on Saturday and then followed that up with the round of the day on Sunday to win her first Golfweek Junior Tour title. After back to back bogeys on 12 and 13 on Sunday, she then eagled 14 and birdied 15 to put the tournament away. Eva posted rounds of 74 on Saturday and 71 on Sunday at the University Club of Kentucky for a 145 total. Clare Yeazell shot back to back 75s for a 150 and second place. Zoe Dull shot 79-74 for 153 total and ended the weekend in third.
Brady Faulkner shot a three under par 69 on Saturday which tied for the lowest round of the tournament. After an opening nine 38 on Sunday, Brady found himself trailing and needing to pick up the pace. Three birdies on the front nine (his back nine) at the University Club of Kentucky helped him seal his second career Golfweek Junior Tour win. The final birdie of the round on his 17th hole was crucial in the one stroke victory. Elijah Stewart (75-69) finished at 144 and in second place. Grant Guetig (75-72), Jack Burrice (77-70), and Brookman Tyrer (73-74) all tied for third place at 147.
Ellie Gonzalez-Ribble continued her dominant season in picking up her fourth win of the season at the University Cub of Kentucky. It was the fifth career Golfweek Junior Tour victory for Ellie. She led the field with six birdies, which helped her post two of the three lowest rounds of the tournament. Her 77-75, 152 total was good enough to earn her a five stroke margin of victory. Karis Reid (83-74) finished at 157 to claim second place. Hannah Kim shot 84-79 to finish at 163 and in third place.
