Big Weekend at Yankee and PipeStone
Davis Gochenouer broke through with his first win on the GolfWeek Jr Tour at Yankee Trace this weekend. His steady play during the rain on Saturday and wind on Sunday allowed him to post an impressive 71-72, one under par total for the weekend. While many players struggled with the back nine this weekend, Davis went 3 under on the difficult nine. The high school freshman claimed the Boys 14-15 title by 6 and the overall Boys 14-19 title by 3.
In her fourth win of the season, Audrey Ryu is extending her lead in the Player of the Year race for the Girls 15-19 division. Her impressive first round 71 on Saturday came with 4 birdies on her way to claim medalist honors by 4 strokes. The second day came with some wind and difficult pin positions, but she was able to close out the round with a 36 on the back nine and the 77 on Sunday was enough to win the Girls 15-19 division by 3 strokes.
