Bartlett Joins HOF with Win
Finley Bartlett turned in the round of the tournament Saturday with a five under par 66 that gave him a four stroke lead. His second round 74 put him at 140 and sealed the win at Vanderbilt Legends Club without his lead ever truly being threatened. This victory was Finley's 11th in his Golfweek Junior Tour career and vaulted him into the GJT Hall of Fame. Finley led the field in birdies for the two day tournament with a total of 10 . Cole Stockard and Cameron Phillips both shot identical 70-72, 142s to tie for second place.
Clare Yeazell tied for the low round of the day on Saturday and then followed that up with the low round of the tournament Sunday to capture a resounding win. The victory, the third of Clare's Golfweek Junior Tour career, was by an outstanding eight stroke margin. Clare tied for the field record in birdies and also picked up an eagle on her 10th hole on Sunday. The 68 ties for the lowest score of her GJT career. There was a three way tie for second place at 148 between Taylor Larkins (75-73), Molly Spector (75-73), and Courtney Beerheide (74-74).
Mattingly Upchurch posted excellent rounds of 73-71 over the weekend at Vanderbilt Legends Club. That play was good enough to have him locked in a duel for all of Sunday's round with Mattingly, both two up and two down at various points during the day. After 36 holes, a playoff was needed to determine a winner. Mattingly birdied the first hole of the playoff with the help of a 12 foot putt to snap up his third career Golfweek Junior Tour victory. William Long finished the weekend in second with identical rounds of 73-71 for a 144 total. Jack Marsh shot 73-79 for a 152 total and third place.
