Alena Li grabs title with Sunday low round

An opening round 77 left Alena Li two strokes behind the first round leaders at Gibson Bay Golf Course. A few early bogeys in her second round widened that gap even more. Alena then played lights out golf. She played the final 14 holes in three under par and finished the round with a one under par 71. That helped her to a narrow one shot victory and put her back in the GJT winner's circle. Meadow Tian posted rounds of 75-74 for a 149 total and second place. Athena Singh finished the weekend in third with back-to-back rounds of 75 for a 150.

Warren Thomis got his season started the best way possible at Gibson Bay over the weekend: with a win. Warren played an excellent opening round on Saturday with six birdies and no bogeys for a very tidy 6 under par 66. He then birdied the first two holes on Sunday and put it on cruise control from there. Thomis racked up his sixth career Golfweek Junior Tour win after his Sunday 72 which put him at 138 total. CJ Scohy (73-72) came in second place at 145. Third place went to Jack Flores with scores of 70-77, 147 total.

Brayden Casolari arrived at the 11th tee box on Sunday down two strokes with only eight holes remaining. He birdied the 11th hole ad found himself tied for the lead. Brayden was then able to finish off the final seven holes in one par to emerge with a one shot victory, the first of his Golfweek Junior Tour career. His 75-75, 150 total was the second lowest of Brayden's GJT career. Jack Marsh shot 71-80 for a 151 total and ended the weekend in second. Conner Ford rounded out the top three with a 74-78, 152.

Alex Cook picked up right where he left off in the fall in the Boys 13 and Under division. Alex put together solid round of 74-75 for a 149 total and a 10 shot win. The win was the fourth of the season for Alex and the seventh of his career. With the win, he retook the division points lead. Alex led the field in birdies with six and still had the second-most pars of anyone. Isaah Kandula ended the weekend in second place with his rounds of 79-80 for a 159 total. William Qiao (82-78) finished in third at 160.

Heidi Mitchell won in her first career Golfweek Junior Tour start in the Girls 14 and Under division. Heidi shot scores of 86-88 for a 174 total. She posted a front nine 41 on Saturday including a birdie on the par four ninth hole.
