2021 Tour Championship

The 2021 Tour Championship at UK Club saw a new 18 hole record shattered in the Girls 15-19 division from Casey Powell on Saturday. Teeing off on the 10th hole she opened with a birdie, another on #12, and then an eagle on the 13th. She would post a 32 for her first nine. She would make the turn to the front nine and post a birdie on #2 and then rattle off three birdies in a row on 6,7,and 8. The 8 under par round of 64 sets a new 18 hole scoring record for the tour by 2 strokes. ( Tour Scoring Records Page )

Casey would finish the tournament at 2 under par, 214, and take home the Girls 15-19 title by 3 strokes over Macie Brown, who posted a 69 on Monday, and Madison Dabagia, who played consistent golf all weekend with rounds of 72-72-73.

It took a playoff in the Boys 16-19 between Benjamin Sluzas and Alex Hadden to determine the champion on Monday. Ben Sluzas played consistently all weekend with rounds of 70-67-71, but it was Alex's Monday round of 64, and career low on the tour, that created some drama. Alex would post 8 birdies and no bogies on the final round and finish #18 with a birdie to tie with Casey Powell for the low round of the event, and the low round for any boy by 3 strokes. Ben would need an up-and-down on the last hole from the greenside bunker to force a playoff at 8 under par.

After two playoff holes Ben would emerge victorious, and take home his second victory on the GolfWeek Jr Tour.

Maverick Conaway would play his final 9 holes in 2 under par Monday to take home the Boys 14-15 division title. He had 5 players within 4 strokes of him as it was a close race until the final nine when Maverick pulled ahead with a solid 2 birdies and zero bogey final nine holes. He would post 3 of the most consistent rounds of the weekend with 73-73-72 and best Ieuan Jones by two strokes who made a late charge with a final nine, 34, as well.

This is Maverick's second win on the tour, with his last coming in 2018 in the Boys 13 & Under division.

Madison Glisson played steady golf all weekend at the Tour Championship with rounds of 73-73-74. She would post 5 birdies and just 9 bogies all weekend and never record a double bogey or worse. It was this solid play that gave her a 4 stroke win over our Player of the Year, Elizabeth Ryu, who posted rounds of 75-76-73. In Madison's two starts this season, she won both times, and both were at the UK Club.

Cayse Morgan would take home his third victory of the year in a season that he improved each month. After four starts in the Fall, it would take until April until he would post a victory on the tour, but in his last 4 starts he has won 3 times. Cayse would play consistent golf all weekend with rounds of 71-70-71 for a 4 under par total, and a 2 stroke win over Player of the Year Brayden Miller, and first round medalist, Brady Barnum. Cayse would birdie his final hole to cap off the weekend and win the 2021 GolfWeek Jr Tour Championship.
