Smith at Stone Ridge
After leading the field in round one at Stone Ridge with a one under par 71 that included 3 birdies and 2 bogies, Marcus Smith would take control in the second round with 4 birdies on his way to a second round 73. His even par total of 144 would claim the Boys 16-19 division by 5 strokes and the overall Boys 14-19 title by 3 strokes. This is Marcus' first win on the GolfWeek Jr Tour in only his second start this year. His other start was also at Stone Ridge where he was in contention for the title, but finished with a T-5.
On a tough weekend due to consistent high winds, Ieuan came out firing with a first round 71 that included an incredible 6 birdies. This gave him the first round medalist honors by 2 strokes. He would make another 4 birdies in round 2, but settle for a 76 and hold off Michell Strickland who carded the low round of 74 on day 2. This is Ieuan's first win this season, and second win this year.
Bridget Boczar won the Girls 15-19 and overall girls title with two consistent rounds of 78-78. Bridget definitely liked the back nine at Stone Ridge as she shot a 38 on it in round one and a 37 in round two. Her two round total of 156 would take the win by 3 strokes over Kate Brody who shot a great round of 77 in round two.
After a disappointing opening round of 81, Brayden Miller would come out with 3 birdies and 5 bogies in round two to claim the Boys 13 & Under title by 4 strokes and marks his biggest come back of the year to claim a win. This is now Brayden's 3rd win of the season and increases his lead in the Player of the Year race.
Ellie Ryu claimed her first win of the season and her first win on the GolfWeek Jr Tour with an 89-84 and a 4 stroke win. Ellie's second round 84 was the low round of the tournament for her age division and helped her narrowly edge out Skylar Dean who also had a strong second round of 85 to finish second place.
