Playoffs at North Star


It took playoffs to determine the overall boys and girls champions this weekend at North Star and Ryan Miller and Emily Hummer emerged as champions.

In the Girls 15-19 division Hayley Dye held the first round lead, but Emily Hummer came out with a 75 in round two to tie for the lead and went on to make a par on the first playoff hole to win the overall girls title. She closed with 8 straight pars in regulation to force the playoff and win on the 1st hole.

Ryan Miller's back nine 35 on Sunday was enough to force a playoff with first round leader Carson Bellish. After Carson made a 20 footer on the first playoff hole to save par, Ryan was forced to make a 5 footer to save his. It took 3 playoff holes before Ryan made a birdie and claimed the overall boys title with a -1 par total of 143.

The Boys 14-15 division came down to the last hole of regulation after Michael Long made a charge on Sunday with a back nine 33 and final round of 71 to finish just one stroke back of Stephen Ma. Thanks to Stephens first round 71, he was able to complete the tournament with a 146 total and take the win.

Skylar Dean was able to narrowly defeat Emerson Purcell thanks to completing the final 6 holes of the tournament in even par. Her 83-83 total only finished one stroke ahead of Emerson Purcell's 84-83 total.

Vishruth Badiga came in tied for the low round of the tournament with a Sunday score of 74 and played his last 5 holes 1 under par. He claimed his first win on the GolfWeek Jr Tour in the Boys 13 & Under, with his steady play and two round total of 76-74.
