Lorenzo Pinili cards 6 birdies and an eagle on his way to an opening round of 64! He led the overall Boys 14-19 field by 4 after round 1 and on a windy and hot day 2, came in with a solid 73. He went 2 under the last 3 holes to secure the overall title by 4.
Michigan State commit, Leila Raines, continued her stellar play on the GolfWeek Jr Tour with another win and a 3 under par total of 141. She has won in both of her starts this year, and vaulted herself into the Player of the Year race. Lydia Swan carded solid rounds of 73-73 to come in second.
We have a new Girls 14 & Under 36 hole scoring record! Elizabeth Eberle carded the lowest 36 hole total, and the lowest under par score in GolfWeek Jr Tour history for the Girls 14 & Under with an 8 under par, 136 total! She has earned her spot in the record books besting the previous record held by Morgan Dabagia at Cherry Blossom in 2016 with a 4 under par total of 140.
Grant Smeltzer got off to a fast start in the first round with a 4 under par, 68! Playing with the leaders on a windy and hot day two, he came in with a solid 73 to take home the Boys 16-19 title by 1 stroke over Connor Gdovin and Brandon Nowery.
The race for Player of the Year in the Boys 13 & Under continues to heat up with another win for Vaughn Harber to add 240 points to his total! He now stands just 136 points behind Landen Howard who finished only 1 stroke behind Vaughn. Vaughn had to card the low round on the second day to win the Boys 13 & Under title by 1 stroke!
