Lockwood in Cruise Control All Weekend


Bowling Green, Ky. - Allan Lockwood furthered his strong play from last weekend at Keene Run and turned it into a 2-under 142 at Bowling Green Country Club. A Saturday round with just 1 bogey saw Lockwood card a 70 and give himself a 2 shot advantage going into Sunday. 2 birdies in the first 4 holes helped him assert himself at the top of the leaderboard and he ended up winning by 3 shots. University of Cincinnati commit Rylan Wotherspoon used 4 birdies on Sunday to post the low round of the day with a 70 and vault into 2nd place at 145. Jakob Wellman and Hayden Warren posted identical 150s to tie for 3rd place.

Jones Breaks Through

Ieuan Jones broke through for his first win in the 14-15 age division. Jones had been knocking on the door all season, with 5 previous top 5 finishes, including 2 second place finishes in the fall. Despite playing up an age division, he had the low round of the day on Saturday and then tied for the low round of the day on Sunday. He fired back-to-back 74s for a 148 total and a 2 shot win. Drew Wallace finished 2 strokes back after a Sunday 74 and 150 total, 5 shots clear of thrid place. Joel Craft fired a 155 to finish in third place by himself.

Sohn Steady on Sunday

Reagan Sohn was one of only two players in the field to put together back-to-back rounds in the 70s and she had the low round of the day on both Saturday and Sunday. She played great golf all weekend, leading the field in birdies with 5. Sohn won her first GJT event in over 2 years by posting a 78-77--155 total for a 4 stroke victory. Mary Keene Marrs was the only other player with two rounds under 80, finishing with a 79-78--157 total and second place. Eastern Kentucky commit Grace Clark rounded out the top 3 with a 165 total.

Upchurch Dominant From Start to Finish

Mattingly Upchurch was in complete control throughout the weekend, earning himself a win with an incredible 13 stroke margin of victory. Upchurch raced out to an early lead on Saturday and never looked back. He ended Day 1 with a 78 and a 2 stroke lead and pushed that to all the way to 13 with a 77 on Sunday. It was his first GJT victory and it came in his first ever start. Jacob Holzer shot 82-86--168 to secure second place on the weekend. Third place was taken by Micah Sheffer as he finished up with a 83-88-171 total.

McClanahan Wins in GJT Debut

Sydney McClanahan started her first ever Golfweek Junior Tour tournament on Saturday at Bowling Green Country Club. She grabbed the first round lead with an 89 and by the end of Sunday, she had her first GJT win as well. She ended up shooting 89 on both days, good for a 178 total and a 5 shot final margin of victory. Reagan Ramage used the low round of the day on Sunday with an 87 to jump up into second place. Third place was taken by Kendall Brissey after she posted a 92-93--185.
