Judge rules in Dublin
DUBLIN, Ohio – Carsten Judge parlayed an eagle in Sunday’s final round into an 8-shot victory in the Boys 16-19 division at Golf Club of Dublin.
Judge, who bagged his second career GJT win, went wire-to-wire for the boys overall title as well by putting together rounds of 70-69—139.
In Saturday’s opening round, Judge eagled the fifth hole and followed up with birdies at 9 and 16 to carry a 2-shot lead into Sunday. In the final round, Judge overcame two early bogeys with a hot stretch starting at the fifth. He birdied 5 then eagled 6 followed by birdies at 7 and 8 for a 4-hole stretch in 5-under-par.
Keygan Robinson fired rounds of 74-73—147 to claim sole possession of second place, followed by Benjamin Ramold in third at 72-76—148.
Bennett Zeitner shot 75-75—150 to finish fourth while Coop Pamer (77-74—151) and Mychal McKelvey (73-78—151) finished tied to round out the top-5.
Pollina outlasts Burton in Boys 14-15 Division
Jackson Pollina went back-and-forth with Zach Burton in the final round of the Boys 14-15 division until finishing strong to capture the title at Golf Club of Dublin.
Pollina fired rounds of 73-73—146 and took a 2-shot lead over Burton into Sunday. In the final round, Pollina twice fell one shot behind Burton including at the 11th when he made double bogey. From that point, Pollina played the final seven holes in bogey-free 1-under-par and regained the lead for good at 16.
Burton finished with rounds of 75-72—147 to claim sole possession of second place while co-first round leader Ethan McDonald took third at 73-75—148.
Mitchell Strickland shot 74-75—149 to take fourth place while Mason Deal rounded out the top 5 at 77-73—150.
Deal cruises at Darby Creek
MARYSVILLE, Ohio -- Sydney Deal fired rounds of 83-86—169 in rolling to a 9-shot victory in the Girls 14-and-under division at Darby Creek Golf Course.
Deal essentially wrapped up the event on the first day when she stormed out to a 6-shot lead behind 10 pars. On the second day, Deal saw her lead cut to five by Isabella Anderson then she birdied the sixth to stop the bleeding and would never look back.
Anderson finished second with rounds of 90-88—178 followed by Ellie Ryu in third at 89-93—182.
Harber takes Boys 13-and-Under by 9 shots
Vaughn Harber cruised to his third career GJT victory by firing rounds of 71-71—142 at Darby Creek.
Harber was the only player in the field to break par and his opening-round 71 gave him a 2-shot lead over Brayden Miller. After a bogey at 2 on Sunday, Harber rebounded with birdies at 3 and 5 to extend the lead to four and would never look back.
Harber finished off the field by nine shots to get his first GJT win since April.
Miller would finish at 73-78—151 to finish in a tie for second place with Max VanderMolen, who shot 79-72—151.
Landen Howard shot 79-73—152 to claim sole possession of fourth place while Brady Barnum (78-75—153) and Brian Luft (76-77—153) tied for fifth.
