Two straight wins for Lee
SUNBURY, Ohio – Amelia Lee fired rounds of 77-76—153 to capture her second straight GJT victory in the Girls 15-19 division at Northstar Golf Club.
Lee, who won three weeks ago at Beavercreek in her last GJT appearance, entered the final round tied with Casey Powell then broke free from the pack with four birdies over a 6-hole straight starting at the fifth. Her fifth birdie of the day came at the 15th and helped offset a triple bogey and two double bogeys during her round.
Lee defeated Hayley Dye by three shots as Dye finished at 81-75—156.
Powell finished at 77-82—159 to finish alone in third place while Elizabeth Murray shot 88-75—163 to take fourth place.
Sabo claims boys overall title
Tyler Sabo shot 72-74—146 in coming out of the Boys 14-15 division to also win the Boys overall title at Northstar.
Sabo finished eight shots clear of his next-closest opponent in the Boys 14-15 division and beat Benjamin Cors and Justin Gabbard by two shots for the overall title.
Sabo played the par-5 holes in 2-under-par both days of the tournament and managed four birdies in his even-par round Saturday to offset a triple bogey.
In the Boys 14-15 division, Michael Long took second place by firing rounds of 79-75—154 while Lucas Bischoff grabbed third place with rounds of 81-78—159.
Cors tops Gabbard in playoff
Benjamion Cors’ birdie on the fourth playoff hole defeated Justin Gabbard for the Boys 16-19 title at Northstar.
In regulation, Cors shot 71-77—148 while Gabbard came in at 72-76—148.
Cors held a 5-shot advantage with just eight holes remaining before Gabbard managed to catch him. Cors posted five bogeys the rest of the way while Gabbard played even-par to set up the playoff.
In the playoff, both players went par-bogey-par over the first three holes before Cors broke through with his birdie at the fourth.
Daniel Milo shot 74-76—150 to claim sole possession of third place while Tyler Groomes finished fourth at 72-79—151.
Howard stakes 1-shot win in Boys 13-and-Under
Landen Howard closed with five straight pars to secure a 1-shot victory over Griffin Barke in the Boys 13-and-under division at Northstar.
Howard’s bogey at the 13th put him one shot behind Barke, but he would play mistake-free the rest of the way as Barke stumbled with a double bogey at the 16th.
Howard finished at 74-75—149 while Barke claimed sole possession of second place at 73-77—150.
Jackson Harris shot 77-74—151 to take third place while Brady Barnum took fourth with rounds of 79-74—153.
