Gee tops field at Sultan's Run
JASPER, Ind. – Oakley Gee, competing out the Boys 14-15 division, shot a 4-over-par 76 to win the boys overall title at Sultan’s Run Golf Club, where poor weather cancelled the final round of play.
Gee posted five birdies on the day, including three over the first six holes to get his round going. The victory earned him one of three automatic invitations to the Golfweek International Junior Invitational which will be competed the first weekend of November at ChampionsGate Resort in Orlando, Fla.
Gee defeated John Barce, who survived a rough finish to emerge victorious in the Boys 16-19 division. Barce notched birdies at the 10th and 11th holes to ignite his round that ended with a double bogey and two bogeys over the final three holes for a 5-over-par 77.
Isaac Rohleder and Eli Rohleder both shot 79 to tie for second and earn the final qualifying spots for the International..
Derek Limberg shot 80 to claim sole possession of fourth place while Ben Satterthwaite rounded out the top-5 with an 81.
In the Girls 15-19 division, Mallory Russell posted three birdies on the inward nine to fire a 75 and run away with the title by 12 shots over Carly Frazier. Madelyn Young shot 85 playing out of the Girls 14-and-under division to earn the second qualifying spot for the International along with Russell.
