Hollenbaugh wins by one

RAVENNA, Ohio – Kary Hollenbaugh birdied two of the last three holes to pull out a 1-shot victory over Gianna Clemente in the Girls 15-19 division at Windmill Lakes Golf Club.

Hollenbaugh finished with rounds of 76-74—150 in earning her second victory of the season.

After falling behind by four shots earlier in the round, Hollenbaugh closed the gap with an eagle at the par-5 11th and trailed by one with three holes remaining. She notched birdies at 16 and 17 while Clemente played the holes in par-bogey.

Clemente finished at 75-76—151 to claim sole possession of second place. Raesa Sheikh sot 79-76—155 to finish third while Olivia Hensley (80-76---156) and Alexis McMurray (81-75—156) shared fourth-place honors.

Oehrle steady in Boys 16-19 victory

Aidan Oehrle carded 16 pars in the final round to emerge with a 1-shot victory in the Boys 16-19 division at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Streetsboro.

Oehrle finished with rounds of 74-74—148 and held on against a tight field. He shared the lead with two other players entering Sunday’s final round then after making bogey at the first hole reeled off 13 straight pars to move in front.

Justin Hand, who started the final round two shots back, posted birdies at 3, 6 and 13 to move into a tie for the lead, but fell back with a double bogey at 16.

Hand finished at 76-73—149 to take sole possession of second place while Chuck Tragesser shot 74-78—152 for third.

Rounding out the top five was a trio of players who shared fourth-place honors: Cole Christman (79-74—153), Andrew Kaye (77-76—153) and Joshua Wright (74-79—153).

Reed crushes field in Boys 14-15

Bryce Reed posted rounds of 78-75—153 in rolling to a 13-shot victory in the Boys 14-15 division at Boulder Creek.

Reed jumped out to a 5-shot lead in the first round then carded four birdies in the final round to keep anyone from giving chase.

Kyle Salamon shot 84-82—166 to finish alone in second, followed by Ethan McGarvey who took third place with round of 86-81—167.

For Reed, the victory marked his second win in six appearances this season.

Pfefferkorn takes Girls 14-and-Under title

Christina Pfefferkorn

Christina Pfefferkorn fired rounds of 75-71—146 to win a 2-way duel against Anna Coccia in the Girls 14-and-under division at Windmill Lakes.

The two players both started the final round tied with each other then Pfefferkorn moved in front with birdies at the fourth and fifth holes. She would later birdie the ninth to turn in even-par for the day and with a 5-shot lead she would not relinquish.

The win marked Pfefferkorn’s third first-place finish in as many attempts.

Coccia finished with rounds of 79-75—154.

Miller claims third win in Boys 13-and-Under

Drew Miller

Drew Miller shot 76-74—150 to pull out a 4-shot victory in the Boys 13-and-under division at Windmill Lakes.

The victory marked Miller’s third this season in seven appearances.

Miller entered the final round tied for the lead with Leuan Jones then took a 2-shot lead with a birdie at the fourth. Miller would add another birdie at the eighth and he would not fall behind.

Vaughn Harber started the final round five shots off the lead then made a strong run Sunday. He birdied 1 and 4 and later closed the gap with consecutive birdies at 11 and 12. He finished at 81-73—154 to claim sole possession of second place.

Jones shot 76-79—155 to finish in a tie for third place with Nicholas Turowski (77-78—155) and Leo Walling (78-77—155).
