Cowart & Sweigart Win at GJT/SJGT Tournament of Champions
Reed Sweigart of Roswell, Georgia and Loralie Cowart of Winston, Georgia were the Overall Champions of the 2018 SJGT Tournament of Champions. The event was held on December 2nd at the Willow Point Golf & Country Club in Alexander City, Alabama. Heavy rains on the scheduled first round cancelled play, and this year’s TOC was an 18 hole shootout.
Sweigart carded an impressive 68 on the par 72 layout to also took the Male 14-15 division as well. His card included six birdies and only two bogeys. Parker Bell of Tallahassee, Florida finished second in the division with 70. Pensacola, Florida’s Justin Burroughs rounded out the top three in this division with 71.
Cowart fired even par 72 to claim the Female 15-19 division. Her steady play (three birdies and three bogeys) gave her a one stroke victory over Ally Williams of Athens, Alabama. Loralie’s sister Ainsley Cowart, as well as Kristin Jamieson of Hillsboro, Ohio finished tied for third place in the division with 74. Ainsley took the third place award after a scorecard playoff.
The Male 16-19 division title went to David Ford of Peachtree Corners, Georgia. Ford’s two under par 70 gave him a one shot victory over Mason Wagner of Dublin, Ohio and Robert Davidson of Oneonta, Alabama. Davidson’s 36 on the back nine gave him the scorecard playoff win for second place.
