Love cruises at Hueston Woods


Daniel Love hits a drive during his victory at Hueston Woods.

OXFORD, Ohio – Daniel Love fired rounds of 74-72—146 in routing the field of the Boys 16-19 division at Hueston Woods Golf Club.

Competing in his first GJT event, Love grabbed the first round lead despite a pair of early bogeys then put some distance between him and the field by playing the first 10 holes of Sunday’s final round in bogey-free 2-under-par. For the second straight day, Love fired the low round of the day and beat Jared DeVille by five shots.

DeVille posted rounds of 76-75—151 while Zach Brinks followed with scores of 78-76—154 for sole possession of third place. Rounding out the top five were Christian Bugher (76-81—157) and Logan Thomas (79-78—157).

Ramsey finds winners circle in Girls 15-19

Kayla Ramsey

Kayla Ramsey finished par-birdie-par in pulling away for a 2-shot victory in the Girls 15-19 division at Hueston Woods.

The victory marked Ramsey’s first on the GJT and second straight in the top-2.

Ramsey shot 77-74—151 over the two rounds and was tied for the lead with Kiah Parrott with just three holes remaining. From that point, Ramsey managed her 1-under-par finish while Parrott made bogey at 16.

Ramsey had rebounded from bogeys at 10, 11 and 12 to post birdies at 13, 14 and 16 to erase what had been a 2-shot deficit.

Parrott finished at 74-79—153 for sole possession of second place Julanna Zhang placed third with rounds of 73-84—157.

Paris dominates Boys 14-15 division

Max Paris

Max Paris went wire-to-wire in pulling away with an 8-shot victory in the Boys 14-15 division at Hueston Woods.

Paris notched five birdies in the final round in which he entered with a 3-shot lead over Adam Horn. He finished with round of 73-72—145 and never trailed, having opened the tournament with two birdies over the first four holes.

Horn shot 76-77—153 to take sole possession of second place while Luke Muller came in third with rounds of 79-80-159.

Rodgers wins tight battle in Boys 13-and-Under

Jake Rodgers

Jake Rodgers finished with two critical pars in hanging on to a 1-shot victory over Griffin Barke in the Boys 13-and-under division at Hueston Woods.

Rodgers shot 79-80—159 and saw the lead vanish with a double bogey at the par-5 seventh. He played the next three holes in 1-under-par to regain the lead that he would not relinquish. Consecutive bogeys at 15 and 16 trimmed Rodgers’ lead to just one, but he righted the ship in finishing with his pair of pars.

Barke finished at 80-80—160 to finish alone in second while Landen Howard claimed third place with rounds of 83-81—164.
