DELAWARE, Ohio – Riley Dean overcame six bogeys in the final round by countering with four birdies en route to a 2-shot victory in the Girls 15-19 division at Delaware Country Club.

Dean finished with rounds of 74-74—148 to edge out Heather Fortushniak, who had taken the lead early in the final round with back-to-back birdies at holes 3 and 4. Fortushniak held a 1-shot lead through 10 before a double bogey-bogey-double bogey stretched surrendered the lead for good.

Fortushniak finished at 75-75—150 for second place while a quartet of players followed in a tie for third place: Sophia Trombetta (81-70—151), Kayla Ramsey (75-76—151), Jocelyn Bruch (73-78—151) and Leila Raines (74-77—151).

Ritter rallies in Girls 14-and-Under

Anna Ritter came from two shots back in the final round to post a 4-shot victory in the Girls 14-and-under division at Delaware CC.

Ritter shot 81-73—154, bolstered by her bogey-free 3-under-par 33 on the Sunday’s outgoing nine. That helped her invert a 2-shot deficit into a 3-shot lead at that point.

Kary Hollenbaugh finished alone in second place with rounds of 79-79—158 while Katelyn Kuc finished alone in third place with rounds of 84-76—160.

Wagner earns second GJT victory at Darby Creek

MARYSVILLE, Ohio – Mason Wagner fired rounds of 70-73-143 to win the Boys 16-19 division at Darby Creek Golf Club by three shots over Kyle Mitchell.

For Wagner, it marked his second career victory on the Golfweek Junior Tour and moved him into first place in the Player of the Year points race.

Wagner’s opening round consisted of five birdies and put him in a tie for the lead with Mitchell heading into Sunday’s final round. When Wagner birdied the par-5 sixth he gained the lead he would never relinquish, making par on 10 of the final 12 holes while Mitchell embarked on a roller coaster finish of three birdies, five bogeys and a double bogey.

Mitchell finished at 70-76—146 to claim sole possession of second place, one shot ahead Charlie Toman, who fired rounds of 75-72—147 to take fourth.

Rounding out the top five was the trio of Ali Khan (72-76—148), Max Watson (73-75—148) and Cole Christman (72-76—148). Tied for seventh was the trio of Philip Miller (75-74—149), Trey Wilson (72-77—149) and Blake Solomon(70-79—149).

Salyers bags his sixth straight win

Drew Salyers shot 73-71—144 to beat Jay Nimmo by three shots in the Boys 14-15 division at Darby Creek. The victory was Salyers’ sixth in six starts on the Golfweek Junior Tour.

Salyers and Nimmo entered the final round tied for the lead then Salyers went up by two with an even-par outgoing nine. Birdies at his 13th and 15th helped to ensure the victory.

Nimmo finished with rounds of 73-74—147 while Mason Wittclamed third place at 77-71—148. Benjamin Basta fired rounds of 76-75—151 while Hayes Mason rounded out the top five at 78-75—153.

Wotherspoon dominates Boys 13-and-Under

Rylan Wotherspoon posted rounds of 73-70—143 to win the Boys 13-and-under division at Darby Creek by four shots.

Wotherspoon carried a 2-shot lead over Nolan Haynes into the final round but saw it evaporate when Haynes went ahead with a birdie at the ninth. Wotherspoon then engineered a 2-shot swing with a birdie at the 12th to take the lead and finished with a flurry that included three birdies over the final five holes.

Haynes shot 75-72—147 for his runner-up finish while Clay Pendergrass shot 77-73—150 to claim third place. Shubham Nain took fourth at 79-72—151 while Dhruv Kumar rounded out the top five with rounds of 82-71—153.
