Hudepohl, Maradik claim titles in Tennessee

November 25, 2019

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Eleanor Hudepohl weathered the frigid air in posting a 2-shot victory in the Girls 15-19 division at Westhaven Golf Club.

The victory was Hudepohl’s second on the GJT, dating back to May of 2018.

Hudepohl fired rounds of 84-76—160 in rallying past Shelly Jang for the win. She started the final round three shots behind Kimberly Tsai and was only one of two players in the field to break 80 on Sunday.

In coming from behind, Hudepohl carded a steady round of 12 pars and a birdie while managing to avoid any double bogeys, a feat neither Jang nor Tsai could match.

Jang finished with rounds of 82-80—162 for sole possession of second place while Tsai shot 81-83—164 for third. Destynie Sheridan took fourth place at 86-79—165.

Maradik steady in Boys 16-19 victory

Bo Maradik played a mistake-free final round in claiming a 2-shot victory in the Boys 16-19 division at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.

Maradik finished with rounds of 70-69—139 and staked his claim to the win on Sunday with a birdie at the first and 15th holes and 16 pars the rest of the way. That followed a more frenetic Saturday round in which Maradik carded three bogeys among three birdies and an eagle at the 18th.

Brockton English birdied the final two holes in surging to a second-place finish at 71-70—141 while Alex Gentry (73-69—142) and Ryan Plodkowski (73-69—142) both tied for fourth.

J.J. Zimmer shot 73-70—143 to round out the top-5.

Wilson takes 3-shot win in Boys 14-15

Kaleb Wilson made par on each of the final eight holes to secure a 3-shot win in the Boys 14-15 division at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.

Wilson fired rounds of 72-72—144, but trailed Suneil Peruvemba by two shots with just five holes to play. From that point, Wilson made no mistakes coming home while Peruvemba struggled with three bogeys and a double bogey.

Peruvemba finished at 73-74—147 to tie for second place with Max Herendeen (75-72—147), who birdied the last two holes. Leuan Jones and Ryan Walsh rounded out the top five with each firing identical rounds of 76-73—149.

Brown rolls in Boys 13-and-Under

Blades Brown fired rounds of 77-76—153 in routing the field by 14 shots in the Boys 13-and-under division at Westhaven.

Brown went wire-to-wire for the victory, opening up a 7-shot lead in the first round by virtue of three birdies over the final five holes. In Sunday’s final round, Brown maintained the lead with a stream of 12 pars and a birdie at the 14th.
