October 30, 2018

NEW ALBANY, Ohio -- Kary Hollenbaugh notched her third GJT win and first of the season by rolling to an 8-shot win in the Girls 15-19 division at New Albany Country Club.

Hollenbaugh went wire-to-wire for the victory by firing rounds of 75-73—148. She built a 7-shot lead after the opening round then birdied the first hole of Sunday’s final round to add to her lead. She later battered the field with back-to-back birdies at 6 and 7 in setting up a comfortable stroll to the finish.

Lilia Henkel provided some drama on the front nine as she went out in bogey-free 2-under-par to cut into Hollenbaugh’s lead, but she finished at 82-74—156 and took sole possession of second place.

Annika Manju shot 83-82—165 to finish in a tie for third place with Ellie Sonne (85-80—165).

McKean Collins fired rounds of 80-76—156 in bagging his first GJT win in the Boys 13-and-under division at New Albany.

Collins trailed Jake Rodgers by one shot heading into the final round and grabbed the lead for good with a birdie at the par-4 fourth. He built a lead as much as four shots at one point before a double bogey at 12 narrowed that lead to just one.

He quickly rebounded with a birdie at 14 that engineered a 2-shot swing in his favor.

Zimmerman goes low at NCR

KETTERING, Ohio – Oscar Zimmerman fired rounds of 68-66—134 in steamrolling to a 7-shot victory in the Boys 16-19 division at NCR Country Club.
