ORLANDO – Jackson LaLonde’s par on the second playoff hole sent him to a victory over Tyler Jobe in the Boys 16-19 division at Rio Pinar Country Club.

LaLonde made bogey on the final hole of regulation to set up the playoff and successfully went up-and-down for par on the first playoff hole and extending the match.

In regulation, LaLonde fired rounds of 79-75—154 and overcame a 2-shot deficit to win. Jobe finished with rounds of 77-77—154.

Luke Mattingly put together rounds of 80-78—158 for sole possession of third place while Matt Leist claimed fourth place with rounds of 78-82—160.

Grace Mitchell claims 4-shot win in Girls 15-19


Grace Mitchell

Grace Mitchell fired rounds of 82-84—166 to beat Lucy Young by four shots in the Girls 15-19 division at Rio Pinar.

Mitchell began the final round two shots behind Young and had pulled within one through the first seven holes of Sunday’s final round. Mitchell proceeded to birdie the par-3 eighth to move in front and she would not relinquish her lead the rest of the way.

Young finished with rounds of 80-90—170 for second place.

Biggs finishes strong in Boys 14-15

Drake Biggs played the final five holes in 1-under-par to pull away for a 4-shot victory in the Boys 14-15 division at Rio Pinar.

Biggs shot 80-78—158 and pulled away from a tight field with three players within one shot of the lead at the beginning of the final round. When he turned to the closing nine in 2-over-par 38, he had increased his lead to five shots over Jared DeVille.

Biggs triple bogey at 13 brought DeVille even before Biggs’ torrid finish.

DeVille finished at 85-77—162 for sole possession of second place while Ryan Lang took third at 80-86—166.

Kirsty Mitchell wins two-player duel in Girls 14-and-Under

Kirsty Mitchell shot 89-84—173 to defeat Sabel Imesch in a two-player match for the Girls 14-and-under title at Rio Pinar.

Mitchell carried an 8-shot lead into the final round. When she made birdie at the par-3 eighth she stretched her lead to an insurmountable 15 strokes at that point.

Snyder beats Zweifel in Boys 13-and-Under

Jack Snyder built a comfortable first-round lead and held on for an 8-shot win over Ian Zweifel in the Boys 13-and-under division at Rio Pinar.

Snyder fired rounds of 85-84—169 and stretched an 8-shot lead into a 15-shot lead heading into the closing nine. At that point, Zweifel turned things around and rattled off seven straight pars to close the gap, but still fell short at 93-84—177.
